The Alexander Technique is a unique method of psycho-physical re-education, the purpose of which is to restore over-all co-ordination in the activities of everyday life. The Technique teaches students the principles of co-ordinated, integrated use of the body. These principles are founded on F.M. Alexander's discovery of an innate relationship between the head, neck, torso and limbs. This relationship, which Alexander called the “Primary Control,” acts as a master reflex for the entire psycho-physical (mind-body) co-ordination. Although this relationship is a natural inheritance, over time the accumulation of harmful habits interfere with its proper functioning.
